These terms cover your use of the Loans Winnipeg website. The short version: the site is free, it offers information and a referral link, it is not a lender or an adviser, and any loan you sign later, payday or installment, is a contract with the lender under Manitoba law.
What this site is and is not
Loans Winnipeg is a publisher, not a lender. It explains how payday and installment loans work in Winnipeg and the municipalities around it under Manitoba and federal rules, and its apply link sends you to a separate application platform used by licensed Canadian lenders. The site does not lend, make credit decisions or receive your application, and it holds no payday lender licence because it does not lend.
Accuracy and updates
We keep the pages accurate by working from The Consumer Protection Act, the Payday Loans Regulation, the federal Criminal Interest Rate Regulations and what the Consumer Protection Office publishes, and we recheck the figures when any of them change. The "last updated" date at the top of each page shows its most recent review.
Where this site and a lender's disclosure disagree, the disclosure is what you sign. Turn down any payday fee above $14 per $100 or installment APR above the 35% federal ceiling.

The referral relationship
Pressing apply takes you off this site, and if a loan funds, the lender pays us a referral fee. That fee sits between the lender and us; it does not change your fee, your rate or your payments, and it is never charged to you. The about page describes the arrangement and the privacy page covers what the link carries.
Your loan agreement is with the lender
Any loan you take is a contract between you and the licensed lender named on it, governed by that agreement and by Manitoba law. A payday loan falls under Part XVIII of The Consumer Protection Act and the Payday Loans Regulation, M.R. 99/2007, and the lender holds its licence through the Consumer Protection Office.
The 30% of net pay limit, the 48 hour cancellation right with Sundays and holidays left out, the 5% ceiling on renewals and repeat loans, the ban on a second loan from the same lender while one is owing and the $20 limit on a bounced payment charge all come from that law, not from these terms. They apply the same way in Charleswood as in the North End.
An installment loan runs under its own agreement and the federal ceiling, and its prepayment and default clauses are the lender's, not ours. Complaints about how a lender behaves go to the regulator, as the complaints policy sets out.

Acceptable use
You may read, link to and quote short passages from this site with credit. You may not copy pages wholesale, scrape the site, pass its content off as your own or use it to send unsolicited messages. The site is written for adults; the age of majority in Manitoba is 18.
Limits on liability
The site is provided as it is, and our liability is limited. We accept none for decisions you make based on it, for anything a lender or the platform does, or for the site or the platform being down when you need them. Where Manitoba or federal law does not permit a limit like this one, the limit does not apply.

Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms when the site or the law changes, and the date at the top moves when we do. Using the site after a change means you accept the revised terms. Questions go to the address on the contact page.
